Poker and Marketing During the Pandemic

Trudging carefully during these uncertain times is a must for everyone. A lot of businesses have their employees working from home and are cutting all unnecessary expenses. Additionally, everyone is thinking about the financial aspect of this situation as well as the outcome of this pandemic.

It’s not just within the poker industry, though. Everyone is experiencing the same situation. No one really knows what next week — or even the next day — is precisely going to look like, and making predictions during uncertain times is not easy. However, life is still going on, even if it’s just happening behind closed doors and in front of computer screens.

While people are trying their best to stay inside, they tend to spend a lot of time keeping up with the news cycle — which isn’t too positive these days — as well as look for ways to entertain themselves while stuck indoors. That’s why it’s the perfect time for poker brands to step up and improve their marketing tactics by promoting more things online.

This is a situation that is a personal tragedy for too many people, so first and foremost, brands need to acknowledge this and send well wishes to their customers. Furthermore, brands can always offer to give their products and services while giving a part of their proceeds to charities and various good causes.

Unfortunately, many locations have closed down until further notice and plenty of live worldwide events have either been canceled or postponed, but that shouldn’t scare any business that knows how to market itself online and provide their services on new platforms.

When it comes to the poker industry, now is an excellent time to provide people with some more online entertainment and give them a chance to socialize, and playing online poker is an excellent way to do this.

Online Poker Tournaments

Although many casinos have closed down as a result of the pandemic, many poker brands that offer online poker tournaments have seen an increase in customers, which means people are still interested in watching and participating in tournaments, even if they are held online.

While very few states in the U.S. allow online poker, for those that do, this is an excellent marketing tactic that can reach people all throughout the globe. It might seem strange, but this is a time where people from far and wide are all in front of their computers and phones, looking for something to do — and participating in online tournaments where they can win big is an excellent way to spend their time.

In-game Advertising

Aside from those tournaments, poker brands can also introduce in-game adverts, anything from video ads that last several seconds, to adding logos or posters within the poker tables or lobbies. This is a perfect time for poker brands to partner with other big brands and start promoting their content within their gaming platforms. Alternatively, poker brands can also promote the rest of their services using the same marketing tactics.
