PR Strategy Examples

In the last few decades, technology has irreversibly changed the way companies and audiences relate with and connect to each other. As a result of that, plenty of PR strategies that used to be effective in the past have not been as efficient recently.

Fortunately, some of them are still quite useful, which is important for businesses. Leveraging the best possible PR strategies can lead to a lot of opportunities for any company.

The top PR strategies can allow companies to build stronger relationships with their target audiences. They also improve brand awareness, customer loyalty, and a company’s reputation at the same time.

Press Releases

According to a recent study, over 90% of consumers trust earned media. This means that whenever a company is featured in publications, magazines, websites, or other types of outlets, it’s going to increase the confidence that consumers have in that brand.

That’s precisely where press releases and media relations become useful, because they help companies create awareness about their brands.

Press releases can center around particular events, product launches, and milestones, and they are ultimately designed to attract people to a company’s business website.

However, the success of a company’s PR efforts tends to largely depend on that company’s ability to consistently share high-quality content with its audience.

In order to stay on top of all a company’s campaigns and PR efforts, it’s smart to invest in the right project management tools.

A great example of a successful press release is Apple’s annual announcements unveiling new products and what they entail.

Millions of people get ready to watch the product launch events all over the world, and all of the buzz starts after the press release is released.

PR Stunts

In the last few years, publicity stunts– or PR stunts– have been getting a lot of criticism from the public because brands mainly used them for shock value. Although these types of stunts can be annoying at times, when they’re done the right way, they’re really helpful in getting a brand noticed by a larger number of consumers.

However, in order for a PR stunt to be effective, it has to be clever and creative. It should go against a trend in some way, and push boundaries so it can receive attention from the public as well as media outlets. However, when companies are looking to create PR stunts, they should also make sure that the message they choose to convey also reflects their brand identities to some extent.

A great example of a successful PR stunt came from a collaboration between Elon Musk’s two corporations, SpaceX and Tesla. Many people are familiar with the fact that Musk’s mission is to get humans to Mars.

Yet no one was expecting the PR stunt he made when his SpaceX rocket Falcon Heavy ejected a red Tesla Roadster into space after its launch.

Tesla is another one of Musk’s brands besides SpaceX, and the Roadster that the Falcon Heavy ejected was playing the song Life on Mars by David Bowie while it headed into orbit.

This received a lot of attention from both publications and the general public, as it was a unique idea that made people pay attention to it.
