Calendar Holidays to Boost Social Engagement of your PR Campaign

PR professionals often plan out their social media campaigns long before they happen, especially when it comes to activities around important events and holidays. There is just so much content that can be shared by a company, that sometimes, consumers are looking to see something more interesting and relevant to what’s currently happening, instead of constantly being promoted products or services from a company.

This is why companies often have different types of promotional events and content that are tied to various holidays — and one of the great things about these events is that there are plenty of different holidays that come each month that have different purposes. Some of these holidays can be used to ask the target audience to celebrate, raise awareness, or even to try and learn something new.

Additionally, from the consumer side, participating in these social media holidays, especially when they come with some type of promotion from a brand, can be engaging and fun, which is why plenty of companies are using these holidays to bring the consumers’ attention to their products or services.

Choosing the right holiday to celebrate or support is something that companies should be doing in advance, including figuring out what the holiday is about, and the best way to take advantage of the time that people are going to be spending online celebrating or acknowledging the holiday.

The right holidays should also be relevant to the business itself and its business strategies, as these events can often include relevant hashtags that spread awareness of the holiday across social media platforms.

Ice Cream Month

July is a month-long celebration for ice cream, and most people already love ice cream. Although there are plenty of unusual holidays and events throughout the year, this one is general enough that plenty of people and businesses can get behind it and celebrate it. There are various ways that ice cream can be tied in with ads or promotions to increase social media attention.

Stress Awareness Month

Another monthly celebration that plenty of people can get behind is April, the stress awareness month. The world has been undergoing increased levels of stress for decades, and this event is a great way to talk about causes and cures for stress and stress-related ailments, that can be tied back to a business cause or a product.

Random Acts of Kindness

This is a holiday that’s celebrated every year in February, where people are encouraged to participate in random acts of kindness. This holiday can easily be tied into a campaign where companies can get more engagement through social media activities such as having the consumers compliment each other using a branded hashtag, or sending other people gifts with a special discount that’s available only on this day.

Photography Day

Finally, another great event that plenty of people can celebrate is World Photography Day, which happens every August. The goal of this holiday is for people to share their world with the rest of the world, and this is a great holiday that companies can utilize in their PR strategies for user-generated content that can be used to promote the brand and engage with the audience.
